EquipmentThe Airway Heights Fire Department has a number of different vehicles that are fitted for different basic functions. Their pictures and explanation are as follows: Engine 1 is used primarily for structure fires and extrication in motor vehicle accidents. Engine 2 is also used primarily for structure fires but is additionally equipped with Basic Life Support (BLS) & Advanced Life Support (ALS) equipment to respond to medical emergencies. Pumper Ladder 1 is also on the first out reponse to all structure fires and is also utilized for mutual aid assignments with surrounding departments. Attack 1 is used primarily for wildland fire suppression and can also function as a structural engine. Medic 1 is the main response vehicle to all medical emergiecies. It also equipped with BLS & ALS equipment and also functions as a command vehicle on structure fires. Brush 1 is also the initial response vehicle to all wildland fires. Rescue 1 is equipped with our Technical Rescue Equipment and responds to Trench Rescue, High Angle Rescue, Confined Space Rescue, Hazardous Material Responses & Auto Accidents requiring extrication. This is the Fire Chiefs response vehicle. He responds to assist and command incidents. |
