Building Inspector
Sandra Evans
has worked as the Building Inspector and Plans Examiner for the City of Airway Heights since 2005. Over the past fourteen years, Sandra has served in many capacities within the building industry, including Building Department Supervisor, Building Official, Building Inspector, Plans Examiner, Contract Inspector, Contract Plans Examiner, and Code Consultant.
Prior to coming to the City of Airway Heights, she was a Building Official in
Idaho
and served at various times as the Secretary, Treasurer, and Vice President of the Idaho Association of Building Officials. She also served as the Secretary, Treasurer, Vice President, and President of the North Idaho Code Officials. Additionally, she was a board member of the North Idaho College Carpentry Management Technology Board, which sets the curriculum for the North Idaho College Carpentry program. She has also been involved with State Legislation and numerous building Code advisory boards.

Derek Marquez
, Permit Coordinator for the City of Airway Heights. Sandra’s Certifications include Commercial and Residential Building Inspector and Plans Examiner (ICC) as well as Commercial and Residential Building Inspector and Plans Examiner (UBC) and she holds a certification from
North
Idaho
College
for the International Fire Code. She is a member in good standing of the Washington Association of Building Officials (WABO) and the International Code Council (ICC).

Building Inspector
Patti Dorval was a contract Building Inspector for the City of AIrway Heights from 2004-2006. She has been job sharing the Building Inspection duties with Sandra Evans since 2006. Before splitting the job duties with Sandra, Patti spent six years as a building inspector with James A. Sewell & Associates in Sandpoint, Idaho.
During her career, Patti has worked in various capacities in the construction industry. She spent three years working in Carpenter's Union 470 in Tacoma, WA. Her experience also includes building bridges as a member of Carpenter's Local 78 of Spokane before going on to owning and operating her own construction contracting business for seven years. She is certified as a Commercial and Residential Building Inspector through ICC. Additionally, Patti is certified in Radiation Safety and Use of Nuclear Gauges through CPN, and as an ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician, Grade 1. She is also a member in good standing of the International Code Council (ICC).

Permit Coordinator
Derek Marquez has been the Permit Coordinator for the City of Airway Heights Building Department since 2006. He is a graduate of Eastern Washington University and previously worked for a large construction manufacturing company in Portland, OR. He is a member in good standing of the Washington Association of Building Officials (WABO), the International Code Council (ICC), and the Washington State Association of Permit Technicians (WSAPT). He is certified through ICC as a permit technician and is currently training to become a certified Residential Building Inspector.
As well as being the Permit Coordinator, Derek also serves as the Employee Transportation Coordinator (ETC) for the City of Airway Heights. In this capacity, he helps to promote the City's commute trip reduction program and encourages City employees to utilize alternative means of transportation to work such as carpools, vanpools, buses, walking, and bicycling.
Additionally, Derek coordinates the City's pre-development technical committee meetings for all commercial projects.
