In 2003 Airway Heights was named a Tree City USA by the National Arbor Day Foundation to honor our commitment to our community forest.
The Tree City USA program is sponsored by The National Arbor Day Foundation in cooperation with the National Association of State Foresters and the USDA Forest Service.
Airway Heights continues to receive this national recognition by meeting the four standards to become a Tree City:
- A Tree Board or Department
- A Tree Ordinance
- A Comprehensive Comunity Forestry Program
- An Annual Arbor Day Observance
John Rosenow, president of The Natinal Arbor Day Foundation said. "It shows the people of Airway Heights value trees for the beauty , grace, comfort, and practical blessings they bring" he added. "Tree City USA honors the countless men, women, and children in Airway Heights who are working hard to ensure a greener, healthier tomorrow for us all."
